  • Yes I am blogging at work, but it's been a bit slow lately and I'm on lunch break anyways and the lunch room is full (it has about 8 chairs and we have about 50 people at this building). So I'm settling in well I think, everything is good so far, nothing terribly exciting. We have a social club lunch once a month and also a prime parking spot monthly draw to see who gets to park there. They also play movies in the main board room during lunch hour on Tuesday and Thursday (well half or 1/3 of a movie) unless there's a real meeting that needs the room. But i went a few times and there were only like 4 people there, including me.

I'm organizing an easter egg hunt for the kids at church next week, that should be fun, but i have to start filling those plastic egg shells with chocolate and candy.

Sometimes I wonder if i could only work half days and get half pay, I could probably still get by, like have enough to live on, and I would have so much more free time to pursue other activities. why wait for retirement to do what you've always wanted?

  • Hello everybody. It's been a while again. So I had a fun time in Vietnam, Cambodia and Malaysia, and since I've been back I seem to be so busy. Let me know if you want to see the photos, I've emailed links to most people already, but if I haven't and you would like to see them then leave your email address in my comments.

So since my return I've been touching up photos and uploading them. I have yet to get around to choosing some for printing. And I re-caulked my bathroom since there was a crack in the caulking and there were spots of mildew. Also stopped a gap in the front door that was letting in snow when it was windy. The motor in the furnace died to so I replaced that, both with the help of a good friend. And just today one of the tension wire things in the garage door snapped so my dad and I tried to fix that, but it was futile, beyond our knowledge of garage doors. I've also been trying to take care of some RSP things since RSP season is upon us, which means tax season will be upon us soon. and I've been job hunting a bit and trying to exercise a bit after noticing those unflattering t-shirt pics from my vacation. The job hunting has paid off as I started a new job this week, gotten through contacts at my old job out east. But the exercise hasn't started paying off yet and I'm letting it slip because I don't seem to have as much time as I did when I was jobless. Well I guess it might take a while for things to settle down, and for me to settle in and for daily routine to kick-in so that I might be better able to manage my time. I'm still trying to gauge traffic to make sure I don't spend too much time stuck in it. And make sure I get enough sleep so I don't get sick. And still somehow have enough time for my special one. Now I miss being a student and all the free time I had then....

  • Yes time to update. Well let's see, I probably won't cover everything since a lot has happened. Well work has been going well, but I decided to not renew my contract since I want to go back home and don't want to live so far from family and friends. Not that I didn't make new friends, I will miss them. One thing I've noticed is that white people like swiss chalet, and they like white meat. I gone to swiss chalet more times this past year than throughout my entire life previous to this year.

Our church had pumpkin carving fund raiser for the 2 Saturdays before Halloween, it was a drop in thing since our church is in the community centre, so basically we tried to catch people finishing swimming lessons with their kids or basketball or whatever they were at the community centre for. And it was a donate as much as you want kind of thing with a recommended donation of 10$ I think, and we raised 300$ or so, I'm not entirely sure. The proceeds went to help people in New Orleans who are still recovering from hurricane Katrina in 2004 (I think, maybe it was 2005) because our church sent a missions team down there to help rebuild roofs. Anyways it was lots of fun scraping pumpkin guts out and helping kids carve them. I don't really remember any other big events, mostly just week to week things. I guess we also had a banquet/annual meeting where I went to help setup and stuff. It was kind of potluck-ish but not everyone had to bring things just the pastor's families I think, and it was a soup and stew sort of theme with buns and sandwich things. So there were lots of yummy stews and chili's and soups. And most of the evening was sharing stories from all the different sites our church has, because it's one legal entity or something but there are actually multiple sites in different suburbs and multiple pastors.

Also around that time there was a work Christmas luncheon, nothing spectacular, just a fancy buffet lunch thing where they give out yearly awards.

I guess that's about it up to Christmas, I'm sure I have more smaller silly stories and things from daily life since I lived with a young family with 2 kids and another one on the way. Kids say the funniest things sometimes. Like I stopped wearing socks in the house since during the first week I got orange juice and BBQ sauce on my socks. And the little one calls piggy back rides just piggy rides, and when playing an unfamiliar board game the older one will say "We should check the construction booklet, it has the rules". And doing crafts and playing play-doh and colouring pictures and playing hide and seek. Oh and I found my ring in one of the kids rooms, it must have fallen off when we were playing.

So now I'm visiting canspell and we've been doing lots of things together. Like making truffles of various flavours and watching movies and TV and getting ready for my vacation to Vietnam and playing games and having dinner with people, things like that. We broke out the old Atari 800XL and played frogger with only the up button since we don't know where the joysticks are so we used a wire to connect to the up pin to jump up. We made a recording too since she likes the music and can remember it after 20 years.
